High blood pressure is usually treated with medications, including diuretics and beta-blockers. People with high blood pressure are advised to avoid as much stress as they can.

Low blood pressure may not cause as many problems, and abnormally low blood pressure is known as hypotension. Low blood pressure may be caused by dehydration or underlying medical conditions. While it may not be serious in most cases, it can be life-threatening in some, even causing the body to go into shock.
